Global air travel could grow to 4 billion people by 2024

IATA published an optimistic forecast for the dynamics of global air travel. The association expects them to increase to 4 billion people by 2024. This is more than the value of the indicator recorded before the pandemic, that is, in 2019. In 2021, passenger traffic fell by 47% compared to the number of passengers carried in 2019. The IATA report notes that the current forecast is much better than the previous one. This is due to the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the world. Many countries have already canceled or are planning to cancel a number of restrictive measures in the near future. And this means that the mobility of the population will increase. The association recommended that states lift the remaining bans, since the movement of people is no longer a factor contributing to the increase in the number of infections. IATA found it difficult to give a forecast for air transportation of passengers in the Russian Federation, Ukraine and nearby countries. Before the crisis caused by the pandemic, the Russian Federation ranked 11th in terms of the number of passengers carried. Ukraine was in 48th place.
