The results of the IHS Markit research indicate that the activity in the Russian economy manufacturing sector in the current month has changed slightly. The PMI fell by 0.1 points against the previous month to 51.6 points. The rate of the indicator remained above the level of 50 points. Survey participants reported an increase in the number of new orders in December. The indicator increased due to domestic demand. The volume of orders from overseas customers continues to decline. Russian producers also noted an increase in costs amid rising prices for raw materials due to logistic field problems. Inventories, as well as stocks of finished goods, declined at a rapid pace in December. Employment remained unchanged as the headcount was in line with the workload. The IHS Markit survey says that overall, Russian manufacturing companies remain optimistic. However, their business expectations for the next year have worsened.
