S&P 500 companies buy back record volume of their shares

According to the preliminary estimate of the joint venture S&P Dow Jones Indices, at the end of July-September 2021, companies from the S&P 500 index bought back their own shares in the amount of $234.5 billion, which was the historical maximum figure. Thanks to this, the S&P 500 has shown a record rise since the beginning of this year – at the level of 25%. Analysts expect a further increase in the activity of companies in this area, which may lead to the fact that in the last three months of this year, the buyback’s volume of leading American companies will mark the level of 236 billion dollars. Thus, the growth of American stock indices will continue, which will also be facilitated by significant volumes of monetary and fiscal stimulus aimed at supporting the country’s economy after the coronavirus pandemic negative impact. In addition, experts are of the opinion that corporate profits will grow 45% this year.
