Biden concluded a regulation prohibiting the purchase of products that are produced in the Xinjiang region of the PRC. American authorities believe that Uyghur reluctant labor is used in factories in the region. The province is a major global supplier of polysilicon exploited in solar cell production. In addition, cotton and vegetables are grown in the Xinjiang region. Senator Jeff Merkley became one of the creators of this invoice. He said that American consumers will now be exempted from buying Chinese products that use reluctant labor. A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in the United States called the adopted legislation a flagrant infraction of the foundations of international regulation. He also considers the accusations that led to the ban on importing from the Xinjiang area as interference in China’s domestic affairs and strong protests.
